Job Description:

Perform field work to provide Property Condition Assessment and Facility Asset Management of a wide range of clients nationally, with an emphasis on regional work. This includes visual assessment/inspection of all major components and systems of buildings and other infrastructure. Projects may include detailed evaluations of architectural components as well as general evaluations of structural systems, building enclosures, MEP systems, pavement and landscaping, industrial infrastructure, over a variety of construction types. Assessment method will be primarily visual examination, but may include non-destructive testing (IR Scans, Moisture Meters, etc.), instrumentation and load testing, laboratory testing (Terracon has full service in-house lab), and destructive examinations. Client deliverables range from reports of findings and recommendations, database systems for capital planning and program management to working with an AE team to develop restoration design documents and construction oversight/administration.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Facilities professional who acts as a resource and specialist and has direct client responsibility from initial contact to project close out.

  • Takes ownership, leads or consults on large, complex or unique projects, providing coordination and oversight of multiple team members.

  • Capable of analyzing all technical aspects of subject area, defining scope and selecting problems for investigation, developing novel concepts and approaches, and recommending solutions.

  • Participates in the development of marketing strategies and formal presentations of qualifications to clients in area of expertise as part of a team.

  • Identifies potential clients in need of consulting expertise and sells the services of the company to those clients.

  • Participates in national/international professional organizations, including authoring technical papers and delivery of presentations.

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in building science or related building field and 5-7 years’ experience in facility assessment. Or, in lieu of a degree, 9-11 years’ related experience.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history

Preferred Certification:

  • Demonstrated history of assessment experience in at least one area of construction, building type, or technology, e.g. Architectural systems

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to review and reference construction drawings

Terracon anticipates paying $65,000 to $80,000 within the salary range for this position.
