Job Title:Methods Engineer

Department:Operations

Reports to:Director of Lean and Process Technology

Classification:Exempt

Location:Hybrid- flexible but needs to reside near one of GWS Facilities in Batavia IL, NC, or CA

Travel:25% (normally), up to 50% of the time

Job Purpose:Supports, develops, and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Improve manufacturing processes to improve quality, gain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, maximize profitability, and develop best practices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current manufacturing processes to conceive and implement improvements.

  • Active participant in new process introductions, process ramp-up activities, and manufacturing changes

  • Interact with manufacturing personnel and designers to establish and improve methods or processes.

  • Develop production routings, flow charts, and associated costs for manufacturing processes.

  • Standardize and implement synergies between manufacturing units.

  • Exchanging and learning experiences with other subsidiaries

  • Measure and calculate lead times for products.

  • Optimize workflow and cell designs for throughput.

  • Responsible for planning, executing, and managing projects to completion.

  • Understanding and application of Root Cause analysis.

  • Develop documentation, presentations and reporting for all levels of the organization.

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment across multiple locations.

  • Ensure compliance with the ISO standards, quality, safety and environmental systems ISO 90001, 14001 AND 45001.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in manufacturing, in a carbide cutting tool-related field.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, a manufacturing discipline, or equivalent work experience in an engineering position is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of cutting tool manufacturing operations, techniques, and related equipment.

  • Use of analytical tools to understand and drive method/process changes.

  • Planning and prioritizing work to manage time effectively.

  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and develop solutions through creative thinking and problem-solving.

  • Strong knowledge of process management and improvement in a manufacturing setting.

  • Strong knowledge of production and scheduling operations.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations.

  • Ability to travel 25% (normally), up to 50% of the time

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting with some lifting, bending, and twisting.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Ability to stoop, bend, or kneel when required.
