Axiom Space Systems Engineer- Software IV in Webster, Texas

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on a collaborative team developing software elements of Axiom’s Extravehicular Activities (AxEVA) System, to include the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) and Flight Support Equipment. 

  • Apply systems engineering principles to develop AxEVA software, accessories, and lunar tools, including the following: 

  • Concept of operations support; Requirements definition and management

  • Interface control and management

  • Verification planning, coordination, implementation, and close-out

  • Life cycle review coordination and support

  • Trade study implementation and management

  • Guide software engineering products through the systems engineering life cycle including Understand and able to implement the Software Engineering (SWE) requirements contained in NPR 7150.2C, NASA Software Engineering Requirements,

  • CMMI Maturity Level 3 process areas and their implementation.

  • Application of Computer Based Control System (CBCS) general requirements and the attendant Must Work (MW) and Must Not Work (MNW) concepts.

  • Ability to author and maintain good software requirements (i.e., SRS) that are correct, complete, concise and most importantly verifiable

  • Ensure coordination of design changes and associated impacts across the systems

  • Identify program risks and mitigations

  • Manage integrated performance assessments and trade studies

  • Analyze data and make recommendations for improvement

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in system engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other STEM related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering, or similar role or a combined equivalent amount of education and experienced

  • Strong background in blank page design, systems engineering, integration, and test

  • Familiarity with Jama, DOORS, or other requirements management database software suites

  • General systems engineering knowledge and practices in line with INCOSE and /or NASA standards

  • Familiarity with performing work in an Agile environment

  • INCOSE SEP preferred

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
