Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities. Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. This position is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the farm including general oversight of employees and ensuring proper animal husbandry guidelines are followed. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides a safe work environment for all personnel. Involved in SRMP (Safety& Risk Management Process) Completion of all safety audits, scans & inspections. Responsible for the general safety of your employees. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices. Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations. Requests and directs services of maintenance, contract crews, and other personnel as may be necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, safety and other services. Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times. Responsible for feed usage and all other department costs. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. payroll, operating budget, UEP records, etc.). Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner. Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, egg loss, safety and/or control costs of production. Assigns work tasks to department personnel and hold employees accountable. Order, maintain and inventory parts. Travel to and work at multiple locations Responsible for following all UEP guidelines concerning animal care. Keep Production Manager and others concerned on operating, quality, safety, or employee issues. Maintains consistent communications and coordinating all activities with Production Manager. Conduct monthly department meetings. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Level 6 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. EXPERIENCE: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Level 4 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. Biligual with English and Spanish preferred. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Level 5 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. REASONING ABILITY: Level 4 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver’s license OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual preferred but not required. Able to train and motivate department personnel. Coordinate and supervise all department functions. Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, On-Line Animal Housing Systems, etc.) Must be able to work overtime or weekends when required. Must be able to respond to emergencies as needed (alarm systems, safety, etc.)in a timely manner Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and team leading skills.
