Job Profile Summary

​This role focuses on assessing the needs of patients who have physical, mental, or emotional disabilities and delivering therapy services to improve their developmental, physical or cognitive impairment. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Physical Therapy duties: Provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Examines patient's medical history, evaluates their physical abilities, determines their potential to respond to therapy, and develops treatment plans. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. An entry level role that applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. May require the following proficiency: work is closely supervised, problems faced are not typically difficult or complex, and explains facts, policies and practices related to job area.

Job Overview

The position will be a licensed massage therapist providing high-quality therapeutic massages to clients through systematic treatment of the soft tissues of the body by use of pressure, friction, stroking, percussion, kneading, vibration by manual or mechanical means, range of motion for purposes of demonstrating muscle excursion or muscle flexibility and nonspecific stretching. The position may include the use of other modalities or treatment, in which the primary intent is to enhance or restore health and well-being. The position will identify a client’s unique needs and goals. The position will provide massage therapy that is specifically targeted to help the client with their requests. They also spend time explaining the benefits of various types of massages to their clients and track their clients’ progress over time.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent

  2. License from the Massachusetts Board of Registration Massage Therapy

  3. Active liability insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior massage therapy experience

  2. Education and specific training to cover desired practice/specialty areas (deep tissue, sports massage)

  1. Meets and assesses clients to determine the best course of massage therapy for their needs in a professional and courteous manner.

  2. Provides clients with high-quality massage therapy that’s targeted to help them reach their goals

  3. Customizes care and treatment based on individual needs of the client

  4. Documents all care and interactions in EMR system

  5. Educates clients on benefits of massage and able to explain self-care techniques post massage

  6. Participates in continuing education programs to maintain expertise and expand knowledge and clinical skills

  7. Maintains a clean and sanitary work space per organizational standards and guidelines

  8. Provides strong customer service skills ensuring client comfort

  9. Adheres to state and local licensing laws and regulations

  10. Recognizes and responds appropriately to signs of discomfort or pain from clients

Physical Requirements:

  1. Able to stand for long periods of time

  2. Strong manual dexterity

  3. Able to lift upwards of 25 pounds
