Technical Artist V Location: Remote (Denver, NY, Houston, LA, San Diego) Duration: 12 months Description: This role is responsible for the technical aspects of graphics asset development, rendering, and 2D/3D animations. This entails working closely with computer graphics and software engineering to run and support the asset pipeline, animation tools, and simulation pipelines including artist- and data-driven solutions. In this role, you will be working closely with a team of machine learning and computer graphics engineers to generate synthetic data involving digital humans using simulation pipelines. Synthetic images are generated with computer graphics or data-driven platforms, and used to inform hardware decisions and/or train machine learning models as a replacement for real data. You will help run and optimize the simulation pipelines, improve the quality of our synthetic human identities, and validate the accuracy of the animations to meet the requirements of ML and HW teams. You will also be working with internal data collection teams to help assist with virtual production. Job Responsibilities: Partner closely with hardware, ML, research and product teams to define requirements and develop content Maintain and improve a digital human asset used for synthetic data generation Optimize content through enhancing performance Run, provide feedback, file bugs, and help troubleshoot scalable solutions for asset creation, modeling and texturing Manage, own, and maintain the simulation pipeline jobs including contributing to tools and plug-ins for animation, simulations, analyzing data to improve synthetic identities. Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety technical and artistic tasks Adopt a “move fast” mentality and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Required Skills: Maya, Blender or other 3D modeling and animation software Experience with Unreal Engine is preferred Experience with character modeling, animation and synthetic data generation Experience with image and video content delivery pipelines Creativity, verbal and written communication skills and problem solving ability are required. Verbal and written communication skills; communication across teams including engineers and researchers Ability to work independently and manage one’s time. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in graphics or computer engineering or relevant field, or equivalent work experience required Good to have skills: Machine learning based modeling Planning and strategizing Image generation using machine learning Spending a good chunk of time using the tools that the team has developed to run simulations- onsite using a high performance computers Writing scripts or codes Running pipelines- 3D rendering environment Interact with partners to set up request parameters Noticing any bugs- document and report them back to XFN Help project how long it would take to set up projects Key Projects: New staff need- uptick in team bandwidth Compelling Story & Candidate Value Proposition: Working with very cutting egde image and 3D human generation tech. Realiustic human avatar generation, extreme exposure to XFN Fun environment- play with cool animations and pipelines Candidate Requirements: Top 3 must-have HARD skills: Graphics engineering (3D models, graphics engineers, synthetic image generation, animation Modern computer graphics skills- Unreal engingine, Maya, Blender Strong documentation and communication skills Looking for 5 to 7 years of relevant experience Bachelors degree in computer/graphics engineering required Animation Companies they may come from: companies that build computer graphics (Unreal- epic games, adobe, blizzard, roblox), computer software Data Gen, Soul Machines, big tech for AI- Google, Apple, 3D medical imaging, manufacturing, CT companies like GT How will performance be measured: Ability to adapt and move fast Ramp up quickly Iterate with the team in a very fast manner Reqiremnt collection, feedback collection, move fast with data generation, strong written feedback Poor performers: perfecting every process, going down the rabbit holes,must know when it is good enough to move on.
