About You and this Role

As aLead Cost Estimator,you will be responsible to prepare estimates for Capital Projects valued at or above $10MM. You will coordinate data inputs from various disciplines and functions to ensure accurate and competitive estimates. Additionally, you will engage with project steering teams to understand causes of and mitigate any deviations from established tolerances.

In addition, you are a team player that requires minimal supervision that will act as a technical resource for estimating. You will provide leadership and guidance to help others find solutions to complex problems. You will lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.

This position is located in Houston, TX or Chennai, India.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as estimating subject matter expert.

  • Provides estimates to evaluate various conceptual alternates and support economic evaluations.

  • Utilizes historical data with appropriate installation factors, site specific factors and experience to produce cost estimates for project authorization and execution purposes.

  • Collects and correlates necessary project-related cost and schedule data needed to determine equipment, material, subcontract, construction labor, expenses, and in-direct reports such as engineering, taxes, etc.

  • Ensures accuracy of estimates by working closely with Project Team members to understand scope and details of project.

  • Evaluates project deviations in order to provide data to project steering team for proper decision making.

  • Keeps abreast of global economic trends and execution methods that affect project capital costs.

  • Provides supporting data for project measurements, external benchmarking and project closure.

  • Utilizes project estimated scope of work and aligns costs with schedule.

  • Contributes to improvement of Cost Estimating Work Process and leveraging of learning experiences.

  • Supports the implementation of Most Effective Technology (MET).

  • Provides coaching to developing estimators.

  • Analyzes and identifies internal/external business challenges.

  • Uses sophisticated analytical thought and judgement to identify innovative solutions.

  • Recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.

  • Communicates difficult concepts to others and persuades others to adopt a different point of view.

  • May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.

  • Works primarily independently without guidance

  • Demonstrates expert accountabilities for all PjC Disciplines.

  • Deep understanding of key business drivers required. Must contribute actively to project scope & strategy. Deep understanding of work process.

  • May work on mega programs in key leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated improvement of the discipline and overall PjC / CE team.

  • Performance impacts business direction through the development of new products or services.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking plus at least 10 years of relevant experience OR (in lieu of a degree/military experience) 20 years of relevant experience in project controls estimating.

  • Prior experience in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas or Energy industry.

  • Proficient using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) estimating tool.

  • Experience in all phases of estimating from FEL through detailed for project authorization/funding.

  • Must have the ability to work legally in the country for which you are applying. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • This position is located in Houston, TX or Chennai, India.

  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.
