Job Description

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our team of experts providing technical support for Industry and Energy control systems with in-depth troubleshooting. Your duties will include creation of technical reports, advising on technical aspects of upgrades and performing hands-on repairs of GE equipment. Part of the role will require testing and configuration of hardware and software in our office laboratory. You will support our installed base of systems, both in the UK and around the world, both in the office and on-site when necessary. Time spent working while travelling is estimated to be 10-20%.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Liaising with customers and field service engineers to resolve customers’ issues.

  • Identifying and/or implementing modifications to software and hardware.

  • Analysing diagnostic files.

  • Collaborating with fellow team members and the engineering/development teams to resolve complex issues.

  • Advising to our sales and quotations teams on the technical aspects of our bids for upgrades or new systems.

  • Helping to drive improvements in products, processes and procedures.

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:

  • A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or significant experience in an electrical or industrial engineering environment.

  • Good understanding of programming PLCs and HMIs (ladder diagrams, functional block diagrams, structured text).

  • Knowledge or experience with variable frequency drives.

  • Previous hands-on experience of troubleshooting or commissioning industrial automation/control systems.

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and serial links, e.g. Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet etc.

  • Unrestricted Right to Work in the United Kingdom.

  • Valid passport to meet travel requirements.

  • Previous experience gained in the steel rolling mills industry or wind power generation sector.

  • Valid driver's license.
