Amazon Senior Technical Program Manager, Kuiper Security in Sunnyvale, California

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

This role is open for Sunnyvale, CA, Redmond, WA and Arlington, VA locations.

The Senior Technical Program Manager in Project Kuiper's Security team will drive the development and assurance of world-class cyber and information security throughout Kuiper's technology, systems, and infrastructure. This role is at the forefront of delivering highly secure space and terrestrial broadband telecommunication services for consumer, enterprise, telecom, transportation and government customers around the world.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on security expert, with extensive background in risk-based security frameworks for governance and compliance. Someone who thrives in the face of ambiguity, and has a proven track record of delivering high-impact cross-functional goals. In this role, they will establish and lead ongoing projects and programs focused on protecting customer information, preventing unauthorized access to Kuiper assets and resources, proactively identifying and mitigating threats, translating customer needs into technical requirements, maintaining compliance with global regulatory and legal regimes, preventing malicious or fraudulent behavior, and more.

The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, ranging from hardware, through front-end UIs through to back-end systems and all points in between. They will have material software design and implementation experience, strong knowledge of data networking and understand modern operating systems.

Key job responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Work across Kuiper teams and business partners to identify and assess regulatory and compliance risks as it relates to our processes, internal/external tools, applications, personnel, and supply chain

  • Optimize and enhance our risk program to by including the application of risk rankings, risk treatment plans, tracking remediation and closure of risk-based programs

  • Evaluate and implement necessary recurring risk metrics and reports for teams and leadership

  • Complete ad hoc data retrieval and analysis using relational databases, Excel, and other data management systems

  • Design and implement reporting solutions from scratch enabling stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.

  • Support cross-functional teams on the day-to-day execution of risk identification and remediation efforts

  • Help develop risk ticket requirements and specifications in Jira

  • Support the review of control activities and evidence collection relating to ISO27001

  • Ability to communicate insights to various levels of key stakeholders

  • Ability to extract details and context are everything to work toward operational excellence

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
