Apogee Solutions, Inc. Wargame Planner in Suffolk, Virginia

Apogee Solutions, a Woman Owned Small Business, is seeking a Wargame Planner to support the Joint Staff J-7 in Suffolk, VA. Qualified candidates must have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

The Wargame Planner will support future Joint Warfighting Development for multiple combatant commands, Services, and Coalition partners. The Joint Staff J7 is focused on the transformation of U.S. military capabilities and is responsible for Joint concept development and experimentation, Joint interoperability and integration, and Joint training.

The Wargame Planner will:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and execute multiple types of wargame and experiment events, including seminars, workshops, tabletops, games, and drills, both functional and full-scale, and report the findings or results.
  • Develop and present all aspects of the wargame or experiment event, including scenarios, mock exercise injects and products, exercise scripts or plays, after-action reports, and recommendations.
  • Plan connectivity and information sharing to support distributed planning and execution events.
  • Present briefings at planning conferences; summarized findings must be provided in clear succinct reporting that will be actionable to managers and fellow planners.
  • Assist with the development of operating concepts, campaign plans, and supporting briefs and analyses by performing research, course of action analysis, and coordination among key internal and external stakeholders, including the preparation of briefings and reports on analysis methodologies and results.

Required Experience

  • Active DOD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 15 years of experience in military operations
  • 5 years of experience with exercise, experiment, or wargame events
  • 3+ years of experience on a Combatant Command, Joint, or Service headquarters staff, or at Operational-level headquarters (Corps, Numbered Air Force, Numbered Fleet, Joint Force Headquarters, Joint Task Force)
  • Knowledge and experience with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC)
  • Knowledge and experience of the Joint Planning Process
  • Experience with communication or network planning
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation (MandS) systems to support Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) simulation events
  • Ability to respond accurately and quickly to internal and external staff taskings, develop and coordinate detailed staff packages, develop concise reports for briefings, and deliver them to senior DoD leaders
  • Experience in preparing written reports, communications, and presentations for senior leaders
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint
