Alamo Group Inc. Quality Engineer Intern in Seguin, Texas

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, we are seeking two interns who are looking to grow their career in the areas of Quality, Environmental, Sustainability, as well as Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.

Intern 1: Safety and Environmental Procedure Review, Customization and Approval. There are a total of 60 (50 safety and 10 environmental) documents. Plus, help develop Performance Indicator Tracking of Quality, Safety and Environmental Metrics.

Intern 2: 5S Office/Shop Implementation. Create Standardized (5S Step 4) Examples and Sustainable (5S Step 5) Documentation within Office and Shop. Plus, help with marking safety equipment stations and installing signs (Evacuation Maps and other Safety Awareness signs).

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Review existing Safety Procedures (50 documents) and customize based on management feedback

  • Develop Environmental Procedures (10 documents) and obtain review for approval

  • Develop associated forms such as checklists to support Safety and Environmental Procedures

  • Develop 5S Office and Shop Standards (shadow boards and “After” Pictures)

  • Develop 5S Sustainable Plan to include Procedure, Instruction or Checklist

  • Train Supervisors, Leads and corresponding employees for Procedures and 5S Implementation

  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Computer software, Office 365 products – Excel, Word, Power Point and Teams.

  • Strong Communication Skills – speech, verbal and written.

  • Strong teamwork skills. Must be able to discuss project needs and progress.

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Pursuing Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, English Major.

  • Hands On Mechanical Abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including hearing / eye protection, gloves, and safety shoes.

  • Must be able to work in the office and non-climate-controlled shop at any time.

  • Frequent sitting or standing for extended period of time. Standard office environment. Occasional to frequent walking in and around manufacturing plant.

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.
