Amazon Software Development Manager, Small Business Empowerment in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager to join the Small Business and Black Business Accelerator team to help own the technical strategy for seller based feature development and manage a technical development team. Our team is aimed at growing the current and potential small and underserved businesses selling on Amazon while driving awareness of the value our programs bring to these selling partners. You will work closely with cross-functional team to ensure selling partners have a positive seller experience with programs such as the Black Business Accelerator and Small Business Discovery through programs such as the Black Business Accelerator hub on Seller Central, discovery features on detail and search pages, and Seller Surveys where it makes sense to reach our audience.

This person will be an owner, a seasoned software development practitioner, a people manager, and will set a high bar for the overall seller experience along with other responsibilities.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and working with product managers, and will own the delivery and success for that team. You come from an engineering background and are comfortable diving into code and architecture. You insist on high standards operationally, and will be responsible for developing people’s careers as well as recruiting for the team. You will engage with product management, engineering principals, and other software engineering teams to drive the business forward.

A day in the life

In this role you will work closely with stakeholders, software engineers and product teams to deliver our most complex, high quality, scalable products deployed around the world. You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best product with most efficient use of resources and technologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
