This role is a part of New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space and pathfinding technology for future programs! As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will support the Guidance and Control (GnC) team in the following areas: Drive and actively contribute to full life-cycle technical development of safety-critical aerospace navigation and control systems Collaborate with team leads to manage scope, schedule, and budget Support multi-functional systems analyses to drive architectural decisions Mentor members of the team as a source of wisdom, guidance, motivation, and support The ideal candidate for this role should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes uncertain environment while contributing to innovative solutions and demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. Additionally, a strong passion for the mission and vision of the organization is essential. Minimum Qualifications: Advanced degree in Aerospace, related field 10+ proven years in Guidance and Control or Flight Controls design Experience leading multi-functional development and verification efforts using standards such as DO-178 Expertise with MATLAB, Simulink, and autocode generation and verification Experience designing and evaluating Monte Carlo simulations, hardware-in-the-loop, and software-in-the-loop testing Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: Proven knowledge in designing, modeling, testing, and flying aerospace GNC systems Knowledge of multi-body dynamics, flexible body dynamics, gas dynamics, fluids, thermodynamics, and/or fluid slosh Proven expertise in the development of navigation algorithms such as inertial mechanization, sensor compensation, state estimation, ground alignment, and GPS/GNSS measurement processing Experience using Gitlab and continuous integration tools Experience supporting flight testing or launch operations Experience with project planning tools (JIRA, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, etc.) Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $167,088-$233,923 Compensation range for on site CA applicants is $167,088-$233,923 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
