**[SALARY: $37,223.27 per year

**[PURPOSE: [The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) provides direct peer-to-peer support services to individuals who have substance abuse or co-occurring disorders. As an advocate for patients, the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will be responsible for providing essential expertise and consultation to the entire multidisciplinary treatment team to promote a culture in which each individual's treatment needs and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities.

- Assists individuals in developing problem-solving skills to respond to challenging experiences in their recovery
- Models effective coping and self-help strategies and techniques to individuals or groups of patients to overcome personal fears, anxieties, urges, and triggers
- Assists/supports individuals in daily decision-making, resolution of minor problems, and crisis intervention as necessary
- Assists individuals in identifying their personal goals and objectives for recovery and sobriety
- Assists other staff in a collaborative process of identifying programs and environments that are conducive to recovery
- Assists individuals in creating personal recovery plans
- Meets with individuals to provide advice and support in accordance with treatment plans
- Assists/coordinates patient support groups on a regular basis
- Assists individuals in obtaining and utilizing clinic-based and community-based services that support individual recovery needs
- Assists individuals by identifying community resources and encouraging participation to engage in healthy social activities and employment opportunities, or provide other assistance as needed
- Observes behaviors and evidence of general well-being and discusses observations with the inmates
- Assists individuals in developing empowerment skills through self-advocacy
