**[Starting Salary / Salary Range: $103,197.89 - $162,433.75 per year

[JOB DESCRIPTION:[ The purpose of this position is to represent the County in litigation; and assist in providing legal advice and opinions to County officials and employees. • Gathers information, conducts legal research and prepares variety of documents for legal opinions, legal actions and related areas on behalf of the County.
• Prepares motions, pleadings, memoranda, briefs, discovery documents, etc.
• Prepares defense of claims and complaints by or against the County, recommends action and takes such action as is necessary. Prepares and takes cases to trial, including in county, state, federal and administrative tribunals.
• Conducts discovery, examination of witnesses and cross-examinations, gathers documents and exercises discretion as to what will be used as exhibits and compiles related case information. Files pre-trial and post-trial motions, and litigates appeals.
