Providence St. Joseph Health Senior Data Scientist *Hybrid* in Renton, Washington

Description Providence is calling a Senior Data Scientist who will work remotely within our footprint states, AK, CA, OR, WA, TX, NM, or MT. The Senior Health Care Data Scientist is a subject matter expert who applies data science and their knowledge of health care data to develop solutions that improve health care. Activities include: Using inferential techniques on retrospective datasets to answer critical questions (e.g., What drove this difference in outcomes? Which treatment pathway is better?). In doing this, he or she will engage key stakeholders in understanding and using data including but not limited to health outcomes, population health maintenance, clinical management choices, substance use, social determinants, care disparities, utilization patterns and cost. Developing predictive models using traditional and machine learning-based methods. Designing prospective and retrospective 'experiments' that enable us to learn how to deliver the best care using our world-class datasets. Deploying machine learning algorithms, working with data developers and solution architects to establish the entire project life cycle in an Azure cloud environment. The Senior Data Scientist exhibits a strong curiosity about data and excels at generating insights from highly complex data across multiple data sources. The person in this senior role serves as a mentor and coach for skills development in junior staff. Required Qualifications: Master's Degree MA/MS degree in Healthcare, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field. Or equivalent educ/experience. 6 years An equivalent of 6 or more years of relevant data analysis or analytics experience. 6 years An equivalent of 6 years experience with big data, database query and analysis languages (e.g. Python, SQL, Snowflake SQL, R, Scala, SAS, Azure DataBricks) and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) required. 6 years An equivalent of six or more years of experience applying advanced statistical concepts, machine learning techniques, forecasting and other methods to solve complex problems using structured and unstructured data.
