SAIC Data Scientist Senior in REMOTE WORK, Virginia

Description

SAIC is currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Data Scientist Senior to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career. The right candidate will bring an interest in applying his or her talents to national and homeland security problems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze large data sets from complex data models including relational databases

  • Define acceptance criteria including setting algorithm thresholds based on statistical analysis

  • Develop and identify approaches for predictive models

  • Define and set standards for performing data analysis

  • Manage a small team of data engineers responsible for performing data mining and analysis

  • Interface with clients, project management, stake holders, and development teams

  • Consolidate information into reports

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Statistics, or related field

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship

  • 9 years of experience in data science techniques – including data analysis, statistical analysis, programming, modeling, machine learning, and deep learning

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience

  • Strong programming skills including SQL, python, other related languages, and data mining tools

  • Strong background in math and statistics

  • Advanced learning techniques - information retrieval, modeling, and entity resolution

  • Knowledge of a variety of data formats such as XML, JSON, and various image formats

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge working with Unix/Linux

  • Experience working with DHS, Customs and Border Protection, or travel related data

  • Experience working with various forms of biometric algorithms, facial recognition preferred

  • Familiarity with NIST standards

  • Master’s Degree in a related field

Target salary range: $145,001 - $155,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
