Purchase College State University of NY Contracting Agent (Purchase Associate, SL-4) in purchase, New York

Purchase College seeks qualified applicants to fill a full-time Contracting Agent position in the Procurement and Accounts Payable Office. The Contracting Agent will interact with all levels of College Administration, faculty, staff, vendors, SUNY System Administration, NYS Comptroller, Office of General Services, and the Office of the Attorney General. The Contracting Agent will develop and review bid specifications, and manage formal bids (IFBs including for Capital Construction, RFQuals, and RFPs) and informal quote processes (RFQs), following all campus, SUNY, and New York State requirements.This position also supports developing, reviewing, and authorizing campus contracts, agreements, and revocable permits. The ideal candidate has experience developing, redlining, and drafting contract documents independently and in concert with legal. The Contracting Agent will provide management throughout the contract lifecycle and will ensure the Procurement Record complies with campus, SUNY, and New York State requirements. The Contracting Agent will function as the campus Procurement Card Program Administrator with support from the Procurement Assistant.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong personal work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to complete projects on schedule.Required Qualifications:The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, ideally with a major in business, management, supply chain management, or a related field.The candidate must have 3- 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, contracting, or a related field.The successful candidate will be diligent to ensure accurate work and proficient at reading guidelines and legal text to navigate complex purchasing and contracting policies and contracts.The ideal candidate must have strong organizational skills to independently manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines effectively. The candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, tact, and persuasiveness to effectively communicate purchasing processes to a variety of campus audiences and outside vendors.The candidate will be competent in using Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Preferred Qualifications:Experience with NYS Procurement and capital construction contracts is highly preferred. Experience managing a procurement card program is a plus.Past employment in higher education is preferred.
