The Department of the Physical Plant at Hospital of the University of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an Operations Supervisor:

Summary:

Supervises 24/7 Union maintenance personnel of various trades for the Physical Plant at the 3600 Civic Center Blvd site. Works with other Physical Plant Supervisors and outside contractors to ensure work efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules maintenance work with internal union staff, monitoring work for completeness and efficiency.

  • Determines the need for outside services, monitoring the services to ensure job completion and cost control. Initiates the proper paperwork to obtain Financial Approval and to ensure timely payment to vendors.

  • Completes the proper paperwork to track corrective and preventive maintenance jobs ensuring work efficiency.

  • Completes the proper paperwork to order / approve material for the work to be done.

  • Works with other Physical Plant Supervisors to coordinate jobs with multiple trades.

  • Performs administrative duties concerning employee attendance and timekeeping and monitors staff productivity. Disciplining staff as needed per the Hospital and Departmental policies.

  • Ensures that all regulatory requirements are met and maintained.

Credentials:

  • Philadelphia Class “A” License (Preferred)

  • ASHE Certifications in CHFM, CHC (Preferred)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED (Required)

  • College Degree/Technical School in Engineering / HVAC / Electrical / Plumbing (Preferred)

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintaining or operating a Physical Plant (Required)

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience of prior supervisory / leadership experience with building maintenance (Required)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Healthcare / Hospital Physical Plant (Preferred)
