Manager 1, Software Development & Engineering

Provide technical leadership within a team responsible for planning, designing, and developing software, using Big Data Stack, including Databricks Platform Experience, Spark, PySpark, Spark-SQL, Scala, Kafka, Hive, Scoop, Hadoop, Impala, Azure Blob, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Pipeline, Azure Event Grid, AWS S3, SQL, and Python; lead software development teams, including mentoring employees and coordinating software projects; manage projects from design to testing, including new programs, enhancements, and modifications; collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to conduct testing; develop and administer performance standards for the organizational unit; provide subject matter guidance to employees as required; develop processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies and assist in the development and meeting of departmental budget; oversee the planning and designing of software and web applications; provide guidance to the Software Engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements; serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between Software Engineering and other teams; direct implementation initiatives for new software products and applications; organize the software update process for existing applications and coordinate the roll-out of software releases; manage all the deliverables to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets; implement performance metrics and prepare periodic reports; monitor and track project progress and report findings to leadership team; ensure all engineers keep current with technological developments within the industry; develop proposals, hardware, and software; and guide and mentor junior-level engineers.

*REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and five (5) years of experience in commercial software development using Big Data Stack components, including Scala or Python on Hadoop or Spark; and three (3) years of experience utilizing SQL, Databricks, PySpark, Spark-SQL, Kafka, Hive, Scoop, Impala, Azure Blob, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Pipeline, Azure Event Grid, and AWS S3.
