About being our Assistant Project Manager

As as Assistant Project Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in the successful delivery of various capital outlay projects. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the Caltrans team and external stakeholders to plan, design, and deliver transportation projects that foster a collaborative project environment. The Assistant Project Manager will act on behalf of the Project Manager when he or she are not available.

Responsibility Highlights for our Assistant Project Manager

  • Assist the Project Manager in the management of a portfolio of transportation projects, including planning, design, construction, and maintenance projects
  • Work closely with Caltrans project team members and external stakeholders to ensure accurate project data and transparency of project delivery performance
  • Support the functional team members in the development of project schedules and budgets
  • Assist in the management of project risks and issues, and support the development of mitigation strategies as needed
  • Actively involved in the collection and analysis of all project documentation is complete and up to date, including project plans, schedules, budgets, and status reports
  • Support the coordination with other Caltrans departments and external agencies to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with state and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Provide support in providing regular project updates to stakeholders, including project sponsors, management, and the public
  • Support the development and maintenance of relationship with stakeholders, including community groups, elected officials, and other interested parties

Minimum Qualifications to be our Assistant Project Manager

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Planning, other related discipline
  • 5+ years of documented demonstrated experience acceptable by Caltrans managing complex aspects of transportation related projects
  • Ability to work on-site in a Caltrans District Office

Preferred Qualifications to be our Assistant Project Manager

  • Familiarity with State Department of Transportation and FHWA procedures
