DESCRIPTION : An opportunity is available for a self-motivated, hard-working individual with strong resource management, visitor services, protection, and maintenance experience to fill a Resident Park Manager IV position at Cross Florida Greenway located in Ocala, Florida.

This position is responsible for the oversight and overall management of Cross Florida Greenway. Supervises the park staff and participates in the management of the area’s resources, facilities and public use under existing rules and operating policies to provide the proper levels of administration, resource management, visitor services, protection, and maintenance.

    Base Salary $4,011.70 Monthly / $48,140.40 Annually

    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This position is responsible for the oversight and overall management in the field of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway (CFG) and other properties as assigned.

    ADMINISTRATION – Implements and enforces all laws, rules, operating policies, leases, agreements, and permits pertaining to this area. Reviews and consults with supervisors regarding administrative policies, procedures, guidelines and related directives to be implemented; evaluate impact on operations; identifies potential problems; recommends and oversees implementation of appropriate corrective action/s.

    Provides employee selection, training, supervision, and discipline. Administers the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and maintains good employee relations. Prepares budget requests, provides for effective expenditure of appropriations, supervises the collection of fees, is responsible for all facility and equipment inventories, and implements established policies for fiscal control and accountability. Ensures preparation and implementation of work schedules and assignments for the staff.

    VISITOR SERVICES- Coordinates with local and state government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and volunteers, in an effort to get community and organizational support in achieving goals and objectives.

    RESOURCE MANAGEMENT- Oversees the activities of the Cross Florida Greenway staff relating to land management, recreation and resource management and real estate research. Identifies statewide operational problems in the implementation of program policies and procedures and ensures that agency and state objectives for natural and cultural resources are met through development and implementation of management plans and policies.

    MAINTENANCE - Oversees planning, implementation and control of the area’s maintenance program. Identifies maintenance needs and provides supervision and management to staff for maintenance of the facilities and support equipment for efficient area operation. Assists in the inspection of plans for recreational development, construction and renovations to ensure compliance with specification, permits and quality workmanship.

    PROTECTION - Directs efforts to control illegal use of public lands through the implementation and administration of state laws, administrative rules, policies and procedures. Oversees and directs water control structure decisions in consultation with appropriate authorities to ensure against flooding. Develops, reviews and ensures compliance with emergency action plans related to CFG properties.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of: Florida ecosystem functions and resource management techniques required to manage/restore natural communities; cultural resource preservation and restoration techniques; technical report-writing techniques; the principles and techniques of effective communication; the principles of human behavior, learning and communication; the principles, methods and techniques of training for instruction and publicity information program; the methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.

    Skill in: producing photographs, slides and multimedia presentations; the use of digital and other multimedia equipment.

    Ability to: analyze programs and proposed projects; prepare reports and records; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; plan and prepare educational, interpretive and promotional material and programs; understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; effectively speak in public forums; operate personal computers, supervisor others.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Maintain Valid Driver License

  • Successful completion of background/fingerprint check

    The incumbent of this position, in accordance with sections 110.1127 and 435.04, Florida Statutes and DEP Directive 422, Background Investigations, is required to successfully complete a background and fingerprint check.
