Robert Half Insurance Claims Specialist in Norfolk, Virginia

Description We are providing an opportunity in the higher education sector located in Norfolk, Virginia for a Medical Billing/Claims/Collections specialist. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and involves working closely with third-party insurance providers to manage medical claims for the institution.

Responsibilities:

• Submit medical claims to 3rd party insurance providers to ensure proper reimbursement

• Correct denied claims and liaise with insurance providers to resolve issues

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the IDX system to manage medical claims efficiently

• Utilize medical billing skills to ensure accurate and timely processing of all claims

• Work directly with insurance providers to resolve any discrepancies or issues with claims

• Stay updated with changes in medical billing practices and insurance policies

• Ensure all claims are submitted within the stipulated deadlines

• Use problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues related to claim denials

• Collaborate with other departments to streamline the claims process and enhance efficiency

• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Requirements • Minimum of one year experience in Medical Billing/Claims/Collections.

• Proficiency in IDX software.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance practices, and billing procedures.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong customer service skills.

• Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to medical billing and insurance claims.

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
