PURPOSE OF JOB: Assist dentists and other dental assistants at chairside (four and six handed dentistry), within the clinic, and in the community, receive patients, schedule treatment, control financial arrangements, answer phones, file charts and other duties in conjunction with comprehensive delivery of quality dentistry in an efficient manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Demonstrate excellent patient relations skills, e.g. a. smile and greet patients immediately; b. engage all patients in a genuine, warm and caring manner; 2. Respond to requests for assistance from colleagues at Mariposa in a positive, helpful manner 3. Assist dentist and other assistants. 4. Oral hygiene instruction for group and individual. 5. Perform as receptionist. Operate telephone and three different computer software systems. 6. Regularly ensures adherence to OSHA bloodborne pathogen rule of infection control and maintenance of clinic equipment. 7. Assist with inventory control & laboratory services tracking. 8. Perform accounting/bookkeeping activities, process payments for services, closing books and compile data for the daily, monthly and annual reports. 9. Prepare, process and mount intraoral and panoramic radiographs. 10. Keep informed on advancement in dentistry and dental public demonstration as a chairside dental assistant and attendance at continuing education courses. 11. Help everyone as with all other positions in the Mariposa Community Health Center, respond timely and positively in all situations as directed by supervisor to coincide with goals of the MCHC, provide quality care for patients. TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Standing long hours, manual dexterity (steady hand). 2. Ability to tolerate the sight of blood and other bodily fluid discharges. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Speak, read and write English 2. Bilingual, English/Spanish 3. Good computer and telephone skills. 4. Strong clinical and personal communication skills 5. Positive teamwork attitude/skills 6. Have high level of integrity 7. Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
