Job Summary:

This position is responsible for developing programs that enhance and support the Corporate Social Responsibility team's vision, strategic planning, financial management and funding operations that support the overall objectives of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. This positon will oversee the Horizon Cares programs, Horizon's internal platform of benefits that support employees' charitable interests, to encourage employee engagement and maximize partnership opportunities and company reputationResponsibilities:
  • Cultivates meaningful relationships with corporate, civic and charitable organizations and leaders that provide opportunities to advance Government & Community Affairs' mission.

  • Maximizes the Horizon Cares employee engagement platform to increase employee participation. Creates employee engagement/volunteer opportunities that enhance employee loyalty and productivity, boosts company culture, increases retention and recruitment and supports employee professional skill development. Coordinates major company-wide volunteer opportunities throughout the year and throughout NJ.

  • Participates in sponsorship and community engagement planning processes, including budget forecasting, timeline preparation, developing guidelines and funding priorities.

  • Identifies potential partners, evaluates suitability and strategic value of partnerships, and develops multipronged programmatic opportunities that advance efforts in support of Horizon members, employees, partners and the greater NJ community.

  • Acts as liaison to business units in the coordination and implementation of Corporate Social Responsibly activities. Includes vetting, activity/volunteer development, monitoring and reporting on divisional participation, goals and budgets.

  • Develops communications and digital/social media content, for internal and external audiences to highlight CSR efforts and community impact.

  • Represents Government and Community Affairs and Company at internal and external events and meetings, provides thought leadership to the field, and actively connects key influencers through convening's and events.

  • Manages program-related analysis to ensure initiatives are consistently executing at the highest level and making an impact. Track metrics and report out on KPIs that measure the impact and value of partnerships.

  • Aligns with employee resource groups including the Diversity office, Affinity Groups and Community Engagement Council to achieve business goals and positively impact communities statewide.

  • Supports management of multi-million dollar Community Affairs budget to include forecasting and reporting

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Bachelor degree preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of community relations or external affairs experience working at a corporation, foundation or industry association.

  • Requires proven experience building external and internal relationships to foster mutually beneficial opportunities and the ability to tailor approach based on the mission and mutual goals of the partners.

  • This position requires some evening and weekend flexibility.

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of community affairs, corporate sponsorships, employee engagement, volunteerism, government affairs, grant making, foundation and philanthropy.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with and present to varied audiences, including board members, corporate and nonprofit leaders and consumers.

  • Strong experience managing budgets and developing financial plans, programs, partnerships, sound strategy development.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Must be proficient and possess advanced skills in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.

  • Should be knowledgeable in the use of intranet and internet applications.

  • Knowledgeable in the use of grant making operations systems to include Cybergrants and other related systems is a plus.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit landscape throughout NJ. Prefers knowledge of the health insurance industry.

Travel:

Salary Range:

$68,500 - $91,665

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
