Compensation

Salary Range: - $ 75,689 - $107,430, (Grade G)

(UTLO Rep) Rate - $104,000

Responsibilities

This position manages the Track Access Communications group, who create hundreds of unique posters on a weekly basis to support service changes for maintenance and construction work across the subway system. The Superintendent is also responsible for planning subway substitute shuttle bus service, including routing, running time and mileage.

  • Direct development of high-quality service change notices and shuttle bus routes for subway service changes, balancing internal and external needs

  • Analyze operational service plans and schedules for changes to subway service.

  • Design and scout shuttle bus routes in the field; provide specifications to bus scheduling group.

  • Evaluate public-facing messages for accuracy, clarity and utility.

  • Ensure timely layout, production and posting of materials.

  • Collaborate with other departments on service change communication strategy.

  • Observe service change operations and recommend improvements.

    Education and Experience

    A Baccalaureate degree in Public Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning Or Engineering or a closely related field and four (4) years of full-time professional work experience in large rapid transit operations, two (2) years of which must have been in a managerial/ supervisory capacity OR a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.

    Required skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills

  • Excellent writing, proofreading, computer skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to negotiate competing requirements and create consensus.

  • Thorough knowledge of New York City subway system, geography and demographics

  • Knowledge of rail operation and technology, transportation planning, familiarity with track access procedures is plus.
