Scholastic Associate Software Engineer in New York, New York

Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY / RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, deliver, and manage the lifecycle of new and existing software applications and systems that reach teachers, students, and parents across the world. Manage the full software development life cycle including building, testing, and deploying enhancements to existing software and infrastructure. Participate in the Agile development process as part of a dynamic project team working closely with domain teams on a variety of new and existing projects. Remote work permitted within reasonable commuting distance of the New York, NY office.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field of study and three years of experience as a Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Intelligence Analyst or a closely related occupation.

  • OR Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field of study and one year of experience as a Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Intelligence Analyst or a closely related occupation.

Also requires experience in the following:

  • Data structures and algorithms.

  • Programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, C++.

  • Software development and testing tools.

  • Using SQL for data wrangling, extraction, and standardizing.

  • Using Kafka and Glue to ingest data from Data Lake into Redshift and Aurora.

  • Migration of the AWS ETL Framework into data transformation tool; and supporting the daily production runs for ingestion from S3, Kafka and direct API calls.
