Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a dynamic team leader to serve as the next Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Marketing within the Office of Career Exploration and Success. This position reports to the Director of Career Operations and Strategic Initiatives and leads a team consisting of a full-time Assistant Director, graduate coordinators, and marketing interns.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Oversees the Strategic Outreach and Communications team.
  • Handles hiring, training, and performance appraisals, and manages operating budget. Chair Mastering the Art of Networking Conference & Etiquette Dinner.
  • Coordinates core programs calendar for the department.
  • Oversees advertising, event promotion, and branding efforts.
  • Manages marketing campaigns and developing event promotion strategies.
  • Creates master marketing plans for each academic year, ensuring marketing support for workshops and major events.
  • Works with staff to follow CES and university brand guidelines.
  • Cultivates vendor relationships, utilize data for insights, and manage CES's online social media presence.
  • Collaborates with team to design and execute direct email marketing campaigns
  • Manages weekly career community newsletter highlights.
  • Leads CES student interns, coordinates large-scale marketing programs/events, and manages CES presence at university marketing events.
  • Collaborates with other campuses for program marketing.
  • Manages Campus Partners program, and maintains communication with faculty/staff.
  • Organizes and manages educational programs for students, and leads office-wide outreach campaigns and strategic initiatives.
  • Supervises marketing tasks of the Assistant Director of Visual Identity and Marketing.
  • Coordinates print and digital materials and providing editorial services.
  • Oversees web and social media content creation, and works with photography and videography intern.
  • Develops and maintains media relations strategy, write press releases, and manages CES's online presence.
  • Collaborates with university PR specialists and oversee communications management.
  • Participates in meetings and all-hands-on-deck events, seeks professional development opportunities, and undertakes assigned tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Visual design, Psychology, Sociology, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or similar program.
  • Five (5) years of Career services, Marketing, or relevant industry experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of marketing and communication tactics and the needs of students.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in teams, problem-solve, and manage projects and timelines.
  • A track record of successfully increasing engagement by audiences.
  • Proficiency with standard office software packages.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in an applicable subject area.
Equipment Utilized
  • Handshake career management, or similar systems for mass email campaigns and student identification.
  • Sakai, Canvas, or similar learning management platforms.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be willing and available to work some nights and weekends, as well as travel when needed.
