Job Description

Teledyne Microwave Solutions has over 50 years of experience in the design, development, and manufacture of sophisticated microwave/RF components and integrated assemblies for the most demanding challenges. Teledyne Microwave Solutions is looking for an experienced Quality Systems Engineer with a full understanding of industry practices, company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • A key team member for the QMS modernization and simplification project – evolving legacy processes and procedures into streamlined, effective, plain-language documents. Recommends systemic upgrades and/or new tools to meet the future needs of the business, replacing manual, paper-based processes and forms.

  • Provides guidance to others in the Quality team and other departments, as a subject-matter -expert, regarding QMS processes, generally accepted good industry practice, and Quality tools (5-Whys, Fault Tree, Fishbone, etc…). Creates quality system tools and references to support a “right the first time” quality culture.

  • Evaluates a variety of product / process metrics, and other data, to identify trends, threats, and opportunities for the on-going improvement, growth, and effectiveness of the Quality System.

  • Leads small teams through continual improvement efforts and special-purpose projects. Collaborates across various departments, and sites. Recommends and implements improvements and corrective actions to achieve corporate / department goals.

  • Facilitates and supports quality system alignment between TMS sites in Mountain View and Rancho Cordova including process design, implementation, metrics, and optimization toward “One System -- Two Sites” goal.

  • Serves as a member of the ISO-90001 / AS9100 internal audit team. Represents the organization during ISO-9001 / AS9100 certification and surveillance audits. Supports customer audits and site assessments as needed.

  • Reports key performance measures, performance levels and trends for all aspects of the quality management system. Provides relevant and actionable information and data to various levels of management review meetings and strategy discussions.

  • Other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 7-10 years’ experience in electronic, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical product quality assurance.

  • 5+ years’ experience in an ISO-9001 certified Quality Management System.

  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001 including interpretation, implementation, and certification.

  • Previous training and experience as a quality process auditor.

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within an AS9100-certified organization a plus.

  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as Aerospace and/or Defense is a plus.

  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CSQP), or other similar professional certifications a plus.
