UMB Bank Manager of Tax Accounting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Registered Funds Team of UMB works with clients to provide accounting, tax, audit, and administrative services for mutual funds and collective trusts

As the Manager of Tax Accounting, you perform the final review of all tax work-papers and filings previously reviewed by up to two Lead Tax Accountants, as well as oversee the daily, weekly, and monthly activities of a tax accounting team consisting of individuals varying in skill levels from entry level to lead level accountant.

How you will spend your time:

  • Responsible for management and mentoring of team personnel.

  • Provides technical, industry and client specific training and acts as a subject matter resource on mutual fund industry tax issues.

  • Performs review of tax provisions and returns.

  • Manages associate time, salary, and performance records; initiates changes of assignments, salary increases, conducts performance appraisals and management activities, and recommends staffing changes.

  • Advises client regarding effects of business activities on taxes.

  • Ensures that client is informed of tax reporting requirements.

  • Acts as a client resource by researching and analyzing of a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications of various fund clients including tax planning responsibilities.

  • Actively contributes ideas to enhance departmental functions and strengthen policies and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the clients and other professional firms (auditors) with whom the clients conduct business.

  • Oversees tax filings (extensions, federal income, excise, and state tax filings). Ensures that all tax filings are accurately prepared and oversees their timely and accurate filing.

  • Reviews all necessary supporting tax schedules (such as securities analysis, PFIC and foreign currency analysis, etc.).

  • Respond to questions from clients, clients’ independent public accountants, co-workers, and Management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

We’re excited to talk with you if:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Seven (7) years of tax accounting experience within the Investment industry.

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $69,230.00 - Maximum: $179,300.00
