Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer, your role will involve developing precision opto-mechanical components and products, mainly for military applications. These include optical assemblies, IR & visible sights, and electronics packaging. You will be a key member of a project team, designing, developing, analyzing, documenting, and supporting testing of our products, systems, or subsystems. You will use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software to develop new or improved products. Your duties will also include evaluating and recommending design approaches to meet performance requirements for new or improved products, investigating solutions to product or process problems, and performing structural and thermal modeling and analysis of complex opto-mechanical systems to verify and validate that the design meets performance requirements. You will also develop prototypes to retire key development risks, collaborate with Systems Engineering and other Design Engineering disciplines on product development, provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments, participate in and conduct peer reviews and formal design reviews, create and release engineering drawings and documents using PLM systems, participate in proposal preparation, and support the testing of products.

Hard Skills

  • Precision mechanical and mechanism design

  • 3D CAD

  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles

  • Experience with PLM systems

Soft Skills

  • Strong customer focus, both internal and external

  • Collaborative team player

  • Ability to participate in and conduct peer reviews and formal design reviews

  • Ability to provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Melbourne, Florida.

Work Environment

You will be part of a dedicated team of 6-10 people. Your work will involve layout architecture and preliminary CAD work. You will also be sizing parts and bearings and will have the opportunity to interact with outside vendors.
