Century Contractors, Inc. Project Engineers in Matthews, North Carolina

Century Contractors is currently seeking Project Engineers. A Project Engineer is responsible for helping Project Managers in the planning, directing, and coordinating industrial and commerical projects. Candidates will be working closely with Project Managers assisting with daily tasks such as coordination of projects, submittals, RFIs, estimates, and various other duties.

This is intended to be an entry level position for someone who is looking to start a career in construction project management. Ideal candidates for this position have recently graduated with a Construction Management degree or have equivalent work experience in Project Management. Having prior industrial or commercial project management related experience of course is a huge plus.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the organization and management of various industrial, or commercial projects.

  • Assist in the financial projections

  • Assists the project staff to outline work-plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority

  • Helps in coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget

  • Assists in preparing status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required

  • Assists in the preparation of project reports for management, client, or others

  • Assists with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problem

  • Assists the onsite superintendent with duties specific to the project

  • Assists in maintaining a viable and positive relationship with the customer

  • Must be able to handle stress and job demands.

  • Must be able to cooperatively work with others.

Experience:

  • College graduate with a construction-related degree, or equivalent work experience with a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Detail-oriented professional with exceptional problem-solving skills who loves new challenges and has a drive for results.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills with

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Current driver’s license and have own transportation to the office.

    Working Conditions/Physical Effort

    Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in work boots, working in awkward body positions and able.
