Optical/ Manufacturing Engineer

Envision Technology, an innovative startup providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, seeks a multi-discipline Optical/ Manufacturing Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Engineering, Manufacturing and Production staff with the manufacturing process and tooling for the assembly, alignment, and test of complex electro-optical systems and subsystems for defense applications. An additional aspect of this role entails support for engineering design activities related to optical design and system architecture for new product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop processes to assemble, align, integrate, and test innovative new product designs in both an engineering development and production environments
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and test stations to support new and existing production lines and evolve production processes and productivity enhancing aids for the production team
  • Formulate concepts and trades studies for imaging, laser and display channels in support of IRAD and funded development efforts
  • Interface with others in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment, including mechanical, electrical, software, optical engineers, program managers, and assemblers
  • Troubleshoot and disposition of prototype test failures
  • Additional tasks as required by engineering and production

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Optical engineering)
  • Basic familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks is a plus
  • Basic automation experience with Arduino, C++, C#, Matlab, Python is a plus
  • Analytical or Statistical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on skills such as basic assembly, machine shop skills, 3D printing experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with optical component and system design and experience with Zemax is a plus
