ERM PROGRAM MANAGER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This position, in the Second Line of Defense (2nd LOD), will be responsible for supporting the implementation of OCC's Heightened Standards and Basel's Three Lines of Defense governance model, supporting the development and operation of City National Bank's (CNB's) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program as prescribed by CNB's Management Risk Committee. The role of the Program Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize ERM programs and ad-hoc projects according to timelines, milestone events and within budget. This includes identifying gaps, allocating resources, capacity planning and coordinating and motivating all team members, contractors and or consultants to flawlessly complete deliverables. Program Managers help define and develop program objectives, scope and requirements; and ensure high levels of development and program execution throughout its life cycle.

What you will do

  • Support the implementation of the OCC’s Heightened Standards and Basel’s Three Lines of Defense governance model for ERM related activities (e.g. risk appetite, risk identification).

  • Implement the 3 lines of defense governance model for ERM related activities

  • Develop training for roles and responsibilities for 1st and 2nd lines of defense for ERM related activities

  • Support the creation of effective, flexible, and repeatable project management best practices, tools, and ways to drive efficiency

  • Support the development and maintenance of processes and procedures, standards and other key artifacts to enable appropriate enterprise-level project management methods and disciplines.

  • Track milestones and report on progress to senior management and Board-level committees

  • Partner with the RBC IHC and RBC Toronto teams to share best practice and drive alignment in CNB ERM program activities

  • Lead the generation of ERM reporting to senior management

Must-Have*

  • Minimum of 7 years project and/or program manager experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing complex projects involving a large team.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 10 years banking or financial industry experience, with large bank or risk management experience highly preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

  • Ability to resolve complex problems with minimal guidance

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Excellent project and program planning and managerial skills are required

  • Extensive industry/business knowledge.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management

  • Must be able to capture and critically evaluate gaps, regulatory requirements and translate into working solutions.

  • Must have the ability to speak to all levels of management and colleagues across the organization

  • Must be able to get work done through others, influence, and prioritize.

  • Ability to set and develop strategic goals and techniques for a program and effectively communicate this to all program team members.

  • Proactive work style used to consistently communicate project status, issues and completion plans.

  • Strong expertise in MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint and Visio required

Compensation

Starting base salary: $127,626 - $237,014 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
