Northrop Grumman is seeking a Director of Business Development 2 to lead the Missile Products (MP) Business Unit business development team. This position can be located at any of these NG locations: Linthicum Heights, Maryland; Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Elkton, Maryland; Plymouth, Minnesota; Ronkonkoma, New York; or Rocket Center, West Virginia.

The Director, as part of the growth-oriented and customer-focused Missile Products leadership team, will be responsible for driving near-term and long-term BU growth. The qualified applicant will lead customer engagement, pipeline development, capture efforts, and strategy development for the global and rapidly growing MP Business Unit. This position reports to the Senior Director of Business Development for the Weapon Systems division with a matrix relationship to the Missile Products Business Unit Vice President.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide thought leadership in the development and synthesis of a cohesive and executable BU strategy

  • Lead pipeline identification and capture of new business to support AOP and LRSP growth targets

  • Responsible for the development of customer engagement & growth strategies across the MP portfolio, in collaboration with Division, other Business Units, functional, and Defense Systems Sector teams considering emerging markets, industries, and technologies

  • Manage the alignment between MP discretionary (including NCTA) investment and the strategy

  • Responsible for the fiscal management of the department's budget

  • Perform economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models

  • Create, maintain, and implement MP customer engagement plans across domestic and international military, government, and industry leadership

  • Responsible for ensuring MP compliance with the highest Northrop Grumman standards in BD and Capture including the Business Acquisition Process (BAP), C-101, and international capture requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and manage a process for new business capture that results in competitive captures and overall improved win rate - including proposal management support that ultimately drives growth for the BU

  • Responsible for the accuracy and consistency of the Pipeline and Customer Relationships Management (CRM) tools (SalesForce) while following the process standards of the BAP.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of experience or Master's Degree with 13 years of experience in the defense / aerospace business

  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience in Functional Management, Engineering Management, Operations Management, and/or Program Management

  • Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 50% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in technical/business field

  • 15 years of industry experience in business development, capture leadership and/or program management

  • Demonstrated multi-disciplinary global business development, strategy development and capture experience

  • Demonstrated people leadership skills; direct and indirect leadership of large teams; ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Proven ability to provide independent critical assessments, that ultimately result in better outcomes for the enterprise

  • Proven highly effective executive communication, presentation, and influencing skills

  • Previous Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility

  • Strategic planning, new business development, and investment planning

  • Strong customer domain knowledge and a proven track record of sustained business growth

  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance

Salary Range: $197,500 - $296,300

Salary Range 2: $218,300 - $327,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
