Job Summary: CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a Project Manager - Standards Development, Environment & Climate Change who will be responsible for facilitating the development of standards related to environment and climate change. This includes standards for a diverse collection of subjects including climate change mitigation and adaptation, recycling and resource recovery, circularity, ESG and SDGs, and decarbonization. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of standards development, primarily involving the management of multiple environment standard development committees (e.g. facilitation, communication, member recruitment, preparation of meeting agendas, minutes, draft standards), within identified project timelines and budgets, and in accordance with CSA Directives. This position requires managing the many members of standards development committees, as well as their Chairs and Vice-Chairs, which can be very demanding, as they are all volunteers, with no formal reporting relationship to CSA Group. This volunteer membership includes industry executives, academia, and senior government officials. The role requires a capacity to engage and manage a diverse community of professionals and interested parties, the ability to manage conflict, and develop consensus. In addition to working with committees and stakeholders, the ideal candidate will apply their sector knowledge, and identify potential areas for new standard-based solutions. Standards Development Responsibilities Initiating and executing projects from start to finish, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects. Establishing and managing project processes and schedules, resource requirements, costs, quality, and risk. Assessing standards' needs, and developing business cases and plans to address the needs. Creating and maintaining strong relationships and networks with stakeholders, with the ability to work well with people at all levels and with divergent interests. Liaising with internal and external partners including clients, management, legal, and finance to obtain project buy-in and approvals. Identifying research topics and participating on research projects to help generate knowledge to inform standards and advance the program strategy. Developing proposals and contracts, and conducting financial analyses for new projects. Identifies, develops, secures, and drives new business opportunities within or related to environment and climate change (e.g. identify new standards requirements or training and education potential, and develop proposals). Committee management and leadership, including establishing the scope of work to be completed, managing required resources, and providing ongoing project management leadership in conjunction with the Chair and Vice-Chair. This includes managing the development of technical content, technical writing, and working with members to prepare high quality documents.
