Cat Digital is expanding its operations and opening a new branch in Slovakia. We are seeking talented individuals to join our team to help us establish and grow our presence, organization, culture, which will drive our digital product development efforts. What will you do?

As a Lead Software Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the agile development of Caterpillar's software products. You will leverage your technical expertise to lead a team of engineers and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software as well as:

  • Lead software implementation, problem-solving, maintenance, and support for Caterpillar's products (web & mobile applications).

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance, fulfilling the requirements of a Senior/Principal Software Engineer.

  • Design systems for availability, scalability, and multi-region deployments.

  • Effectively communicate product and architecture vision to the internal team.

  • Act as a liaison with Project Management, consolidating team execution status into clear reports for leadership.

This position works directly with Slovakia based engineering leadership and Cat Digital IT in the US.

What you have:

  • Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.

  • Master of one primary language (Java or TypeScript) and proficiency in a secondary language (Python preferred).

  • Familiarity with modern IDEs (VS Code preferred, or IntelliJ, CoPilot).

  • Experience with UI frameworks (React & Next.js preferred, or Angular).

  • Software D evelopment Lifecycle Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.

  • Proficiency in using Git, GitHub workflows, and code quality tools SAST, DAST (CodeQL, SonarCube, rapid7 or equivalent).

  • Software Integration Engineering: Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages.

  • Software Product Design/Architecture: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.

  • Software Product Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of technical aspects of a software products; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products.

  • Software Product Testing: Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.

  • API Integration: Understanding of API consumption protocols (Swagger, REST, OAuth, API Management).

  • Cloud Deployment: Experience with deployment platforms (Docker, AWS preferred, and/or Azure/GCP).

  • Data Integration: Knowledge of application integration with tools like Kafka/Spark, data lakes, and SQL.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
