Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Flavor Process Engineer to join our team in Isando, South Africa.

This Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the manufacture of Flavor compounds and emulsions and to be the key role-player in manufacturing for introduction of new technology, modification of existing technology and implementation of improvements required on shop floor for all sectors of manufacturing.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise the Manufacture of all NPI’S trials, EW’S for Flavor powder, emulsion, and liquid products, in accordance with work and processing instructions. Establish the best production method for an IPC and translate this in a clear recipe to guarantee smooth Production Method.

• Prepare WI to Load or use equipment following all safety and working instructions and Practice Good Manufacturing principles and always comply to EHS, Food Safety, HACCP, Safety and Legislative requirements, to maintain high and a consistent standard of manufacturing of finished product, consider PHA’S and process safety.

• Set up manufacturing equipment, old and new for new product introduction and new raw material introduction, to validate and compile workflows associated with new product introduction and to evaluate job safety analysis, manage SAP master data for NPI’S.

• Trouble Shooting, Perform RCA’S, CAR’S PAS to reduce reject level and to improve workflow in the factory, handle notifications and produce rework method and preventative actions in order to raise the “first time right “level, effectively reducing discard.

• To monitor and control Yield issues, Product costing issues, minimize waste throughout manufacture process and assist with Inventory Control on shop floor, bin verification and master-data maintenance for DMA as needed.

• Contribute to all Operational Projects and to be able to provide technical input to Engineering, roll out 6S on factory floor.

• Form integral part of Gemba team, train operators, be familiar with IS014001, become contributing member of green team, role model for process engineering.

• Forms good relations with production planning, support procurement with rationalization and harmonization of product portfolio, understand CIP, reworks, give guidance to production managers in this regard.

• Operating a forklift may be necessary and may only be performed with a valid license.

• Perform any other reasonable and lawful duties as required by the company.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• The preferred candidate has a Production degree or diploma.

• We will rely on your at least 5 years production experience in similar environment.

• Project management basic skills will be an advantage and Six Sigma Methodology will be an added advantage.

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English for report writing.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision.

• Familiarity with SAP will be an advantage.

• Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, power Point and Word).
