General position summary:

Communicate with customers and vendors in order to monitor flow of shipment movement while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and respond in a timely, professional and courteous manner to all customer inquiries

  • Communicate effectively and clearly with all customers, government agencies, and partners

  • Effectively handle a high volume of incoming calls and written communications

  • Provide accurate and complete information to customers

  • Maintain accurate records by documenting all customer interactions into core computer system

  • Coordinate offsite services with local agencies in various markets as needed

  • Prioritize workload to meet required deadlines

  • Build sustainable relationships of trust through open, honest, and interactive communication

  • Ability to work overtime

Job Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years face-to-face or telephonic customer service experience in a metric driven organization required

  • Military and/or transportation industries experience preferred

  • Experience in a multi-dimensional role where customer contact is both written and verbal

  • Excellent verbal and written customer service and communication skills

  • Exceptional ability to identify, analyze, and creatively solve problems

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

  • Ability to diffuse confrontation and create a win-win outcome

  • Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening

  • Ability to respond professionally and effectively to a wide variety of customer personality types

  • Self-motivated; works with urgency

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma required; 2 years plus experience in relocation or closely related customer service industry required; highly customer service oriented; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Operations:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook. The ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as Movers Suite and VMS and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

Planning/Organization:

  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday

  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work
