Insight Global Project Manager in Houston, Texas

Job Description

An energy client of Insight Global is seeking a project manager to join their team in Houston, Kansas City, or Sedalia. The Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to the strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee the quality control throughout a project's life cycle. The Project Manager may be responsible for more than one project at a time.

 - Coordinate with leadership to define the scope of work for assigned projects and develop statements of work, work breakdown structures, task estimates, and specific tasks and milestones to implement customer or internal projects.

 - Identify assumptions and constraints (technical, schedule, resource, and budget) for the project.

 - Manage relationship with the customer and define expectations.

 - Manage the project budget.

 - Facilitate team and customer meetings.

 - Communicate all pertinent information to the stakeholders.

 - Understand pricing models and billing procedures.

 - Provide feedback to project team on performance, provide input to performance appraisals.

  • Monitor, control, and communicate to corporate management the status of customer and/or internal projects, with the attention to resource utilization, project costs, risk management, project profit margins, and the overall performance of assigned projects.

Skills and Requirements

  • 8 - 15 years of project management experience

       Scheduling, budgeting, earned value reporting, scheduled value reporting (committed cost vs. planned cost)

     - Bachelors degree in Engineering or Construction Management OR 8+ years of relative project management experience

     - Must be willing to travel as required - 30% of role is travel (within the US and internationally)

     - Must have experience executing projects in an EPC environment (Engineering, Procurement, Construction)

     - Must come from a power background: Power generation, fossil fuel, LNG

     - Must be able to interpret and understand mechanical, civil, and structural design drawings

     - Must be able to interpret contracts, and develop scope of works

     - Must understand the 3 keys of Industrial Construction: Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil

     - Must have excellent communication skills - Experience with Aconex, Primavera 6, or Microsoft Projects

     - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions percentages area, circumference, and volume

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, thermodynamics, chemistry, and electricity null
