What does Brice Construction and Design LLC do?

Brice Construction and Design is a subsidiary of Calista Brice LLC, a lifecycle construction group currently comprised of 17 companies, offering construction services in every phase of the construction cycle. We plan, manage, equip, transport, build, and provide cleanup services. With a broader network, Calista Brice streamlines projects and reduces inefficiencies in the construction cycle.

Brice Construction and Design is a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) 8(a) entity. We offer heavy civil construction services that include roadways, bridges, utilities, and marine construction.

What Can You Expect?

As the Field Civil Superintendent, you are responsible for the direct on-site supervision and execution of one or more civil construction projects. You oversee all phases of the civil construction project and ensure successful completion within the given budget and time frame. You will manage the field crew, coordinate/update schedules, inspections, quality control, and job site safety, interact with the owners representative and subcontractors, ensure compliance with the plans, specifications, and permits, monitor the budget, track quantities, and generate required reporting.

How Will You Do It?

You will use your knowledge and related experience to:

  • Work with the Estimator, Project Manager, and Project Engineers to plan activities required for construction of the project.
  • Responsible for on-site safety of the crew, conformance with safety policies, site-specific safety plan, and OSHA regulations.
  • Manage on-site crew, including craft employees, engineers, support staff, and subcontractors.
  • Review subs daily reports and ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and subcontract conditions.
  • Document daily progress. Include production notes, any delays, conflicts, owner interaction, subcontractor interaction, safety compliance, and environmental or quality issues.
  • Ensure materials, supplies, and tools are ordered and scheduled to prevent delays.
  • Ensure construction of the project is done following company policy and contract specifications.
  • Maintain current project schedule and project completion documentation and communicate this information to the Project Manager on a regular basis.
  • Represent the company in project meetings.
  • Formulate reports including work progress and cost schedules.
  • Coordinate with dispatcher to assign workers to construction sites.
  • Assist the Project Manager with cost-to-complete and revenue forecasts monthly.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experienced leader with appropriate industry experience and ability to work with subordinates with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Proven knowledge of project scheduling, subcontracts, submittals, quality control, and safety.
  • Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction, architectural, and building industry standard operating practices/procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Perform under deadlines and adjust work schedule to meet goals.
  • Organize resources, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and general time management.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers and organizations, exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises project field personnel and subcontractors.

Who Is Brice Construction and Design LLC Looking For?

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar degree required; experience and equivalent skills may be substituted.
  • 10 years experience in civil construction field management required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize computer and standard business and construction applications, such as HeavyBid, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and other related applications.
  • Ability to work in travel for extended periods of time. Travel for work related purposes up to 95% of the time
  • Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Constructors Driving Policy.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 hours, USACE CQM certificate, and Resident Management System (RMS) experience preferred.
