Job Description Summary

The calibration specialist plays an active role in maintaining lab systems, manufacturing process equipment and utility systems calibration. Responsibilities include calibration of all critical and non-critical GMP instrumentation and controls along with the procurement of calibration instrumentation and standards as required. The calibration specialist will maintain the Endo calibration program in accordance with corporate and regulatory policies and guidelines, while also providing technical expertise in the oversight and execution of all instrumentation calibrations. Also, in this position this individual will be part of the on-call rotation and will be required to respond to off-hours security/equipment alarms per the department schedule. This position will report to the Calibration Supervisor and support the Horsham Manufacturing, Analytical Development Lab, and Warehouse Facilities as well as Process Development/Validation.

All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Horsham Site Manufacturing and Horsham Campus

  • Coordinate all calibration related activities with in-house equipment owners and outside Calibration Service Providers.

  • Maintain calibration database, input new equipment & status of existing equipment/information and coordinate calibration activities with qualified vendors for GMP operations.

  • Responsible for calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of equipment and instrumentation used in a cGMP laboratory and manufacturing environment.

  • Assists Engineering in technical evaluations of instrumentation and procedures, to maintain accuracy and repeatability of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments.

  • Performs calibration duties in accordance with Endo standard operating procedures to include safety, quality assurance and facility/equipment maintenance requirements.

  • Serve as a technical resource on metrology issues

  • Assist with revision and/or development of SOPs as needed. Initiate deviations related to calibrations as required.

  • Respond to building / security and GMP Equipment alarms 24 hours per day, 7 days per week plus occasional emergencies. Individual will be part of the on-call rotation and will be required to respond to off-hours alarm per the department schedule.

  • Review & maintain calibration certification records to ensure compliance. Provide equipment status updates, history files & compliance reports.

  • Support the Engineering Department with other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in engineering or other related technical field, with 4+ years of experience in instrument calibration and supervision of instrumentation contractors, or equivalence in related experience.

  • Experience with High and Low voltage control systems.

  • Experience troubleshooting different analog and digital sensors down to board level.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements for applicable hazardous substances.

  • Knowledge of HART protocol and different types of sensors used for Temperature, Pressure, and speed.

  • Some knowledge of PLC’s (Allen Bradley, Rock Automation, etc.)

  • Thorough understanding of calibration accuracy testing requirements.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven strong problem-solving skills.

  • A team player, who is reliable, confident, and eager to learn.

  • Good troubleshooting skills - electrical / mechanical.

  • GMP documentation skills.

  • Must be able to coordinate multiple contract services simultaneously.

  • Effective communication and organizational Skills.

  • Maintain an organized work area, equipment area.

Physical Requirements

  • This position may require working with or around hazardous substances and may be subject to work restrictions and precautions as set forth in the Safety Data Sheet, provided to all affected employees.

  • Travel (<5%)

  • Lifting (< 15% of the time); must be able to lift around 50 lbs.

  • Physically capable to move around and be flexible.
