This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Maintenance Superintendent directs and coordinates the activities of a team engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines tools and equipment, maintenance of buildings and grounds and utility systems for our protein production facility. We seek a seasoned professional with the interpersonal skills to foster a culture of providing safe, quality, and cost-effective maintenance programs. In this role you will lead our team of highly technical individuals to troubleshoot and handle problems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop preventative maintenance strategies and programs.

  • Resolve and execute maintenance priorities based on established plans and assigned tasks.

  • Responsible for managing the maintenance and reliability spending budget.

  • Responsible for the maintenance workflow process and managing the backlog.

  • Coordinate and integrates with other plant functions to ensure support.

  • Ensure work is performed following safety guidelines to ensure health and wellbeing of employees.

  • Oversee maintenance activities to ensure that disruption to production is minimized.

  • Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma/certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Experience managing tasks across multiple trades (mechanical, electrical, automation)

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of supervisory experience

  • CMRP Certification or other maintenance and reliability certifications

  • Experience overseeing third party resources to deliver business results

  • Proven experience with delegating and prioritizing work

  • Previous maintenance experience within a food production facility
