Fortive Corporation Assistant Controller in Glenwood, Illinois

About the Job

Come join our extraordinary accounting team as an Assistant Controller! As a member of our team you will support the Global Controller while leading the site’s Accounts Payable and General Accounting teams. This role will lead all aspects of the accounting functions, month end closing activities, and leading audits, including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing.

Longer hours during month end close may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the monthly close process to guarantee the delivery of financial reports, oversee monthly journal entries, and facilitate balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for both internal and external audits, as well as for SOX audit testing, ensuring flawless communication and compliance.

  • Assist accounting management in a variety of accounting functions, such as annual physical inventory, fixed assets management, intercompany transactions, and foreign consolidations.

  • Exercise oversight over Accounts Payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers, while prioritizing improvements in Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) and operational processes.

  • Foster collaboration with internal leadership and cross-functional managers to optimize processes and achieve organizational objectives.

  • Identifying, recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performance team of professionals; providing direction, feedback, coaching and prioritization to team.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing teams within finance or accounting.

  • Excellent literacy, particularly Excel.

  • Demonstrated understanding of GAAP.

  • Understanding of current industry standard business intelligence solutions.

  • Effective communications skills – including written, verbal and listening skills.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Continuous improvement mindset; recognizes and resolves issues.
