Curious to learn more? The Principal Fire Protection Engineer will perform Fire Protection Engineering design and delivery activities for projects worldwide! Activities include code review and analysis, fire hazard analysis, fire and smoke modeling, and fire protection systems design. Systems include fire detection and alarm, fire sprinklers and fire pumps, smoke control systems, and integrated safety systems.

What You Will Do

  • Develop risk analysis and advise management, as required.

  • Establishes technical and project FPE process strategies and standards for theme park and resort-level projects.

  • Advise and discuss project strategies and design solutions with Project Managers and Authority Having Jurisdiction.

  • Able to serve as the Engineer of Record to meet project requirements (e.g. sign and seal FA and FP drawings).

  • Lead an engineering team in the production of engineering designs, documentation for all parks and resorts through all phases.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • B.S. Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc. with additional education in fire dynamics, fire protection systems, risk and hazard analysis.

  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience

  • Deep understanding of project budgets, schedules and delivery requirements.

  • Serves as the primary liaison with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction and negotiates creative solutions while address nuances of code requirements and system requirements for large projects.

  • State Professional Engineering License in Fire Protection Engineering (having passed the Principles of Engineering exam).

  • Ability to develop system level designs for parkwide or resort-wide integration.

  • Solid understanding of key project fields beyond FPE (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Lighting, Facilities)

  • Must be able to travel as required, for periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master of Science degree

  • 15 or more years of work experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $123,000 to $165,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
