Job Description

The Associate Director of DTC/P (Direct-to-Consumer/Patient) marketing will be responsible for supporting Sales and Marketing efforts by driving promotions excellence. This role includes assisting with the development and implementation of promotional campaigns and educational activities for people living with PBC. The role will report directly to the Senior Director, DTC/P Marketing.

  • Assist in development of DTP/C PBC strategy and leads consumer and patient execution in the US

  • Develops and executes DTC/P focused tactical initiatives including but not limited to websites, social media, digital/print media initiatives, SEO/SEM, email marketing and optimizes execution and success of the brand.

  • Leads consumer/patient market research and leverages multiple data sources including but not limited to advisory boards, field force inputs, industry reports, and media consumption trends to uncover emerging needs, opportunities, and innovative approaches to engage audience segments.

  • Effectively manages multiple agency partners to produce deliverables on strategy, within timelines, on budget, and measures outcomes.

  • Closely manages media budget targets for assigned programs.

  • Gains approval for marketing materials through internal review process including management reviews and Med-Legal-Reg. Secures final production.

  • Works well cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Regulatory, Medical, Market Research, Sales Analytics and Managed Markets and other key internal stakeholders.

  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of current initiatives to determine optimal resource allocation and continuous improvement of campaigns.

  • Assist in Campaign Development and OPDP preclearance work, including associated documentation/submission with Regulatory.

  • Lead and develop Now Available campaign and patient educational materials for use by a broad range of field teams prior to receipt of OPDP comments.

  • Responsible for contributing towards Launch Readiness Reviews, timing, coordination, and execution of DTC work.

  • Develops and delivers informative consumer-friendly education and other direct-to-consumer initiatives based on customer needs.

  • Demonstrates broad and in-depth knowledge of marketing mix and leverages this to guide integrated execution and measurement of overall plan.

  • Executes tactics according to strategy and demonstrates command of traditional and non-traditional marketing channels. Tactics may include; advertising (print, digital, social, out of home, TV/video, and point of care), websites, medical office literature, starter kits, slide decks, email, apps, etc.

  • Manage AOR to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of strategy and tactics; support management of agency relationship and budgets

  • Partners closely with Regulatory, Legal, Medical, CL&D, II&D, Global and other internal stakeholders

  • Experience with social media planning and strategy

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years’ Experience or

Masters' Degree and Eight Years’ Experience or

Ph.D. and Two Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience; 3+ years of promo experience is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate degree (preferred)

  • Demonstrated excellence in project management including planning, prioritization, execution, analytical assessment and performance management.

  • Ability to analyze customer insights; understands market dynamics and connect tactics with customer engagement objectives.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate and lead strategic partners, key stakeholders, and internal teams for strong collaboration & teamwork.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to generate appropriate digital metrics, assess ROI on spends and adeptly manage complex budgets.

  • Excellent communications skills with an ability to effectively communicate both orally and written.

  • Understanding of biopharmaceutical regulatory requirements.

  • Prior relevant therapeutic area experience: rare disease, liver, or immunology

  • US launch experience in a competitive market space

  • Sub-part H materials pre-clearance experience

The salary range for this position is: $191,335.00 - $247,610.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
