Position Summary:

Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of pile-driving operations on construction sites. This role requires a strong background in construction management, a deep knowledge of pile-driving techniques, and the ability to lead a team effectively. The Pile Driving Superintendent plays a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required Skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop comprehensive project plans for pile-driving operations.

  • Coordinate with other construction disciplines to ensure seamless integration of pile-driving activities with overall project timelines.

  • Team Leadership:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of pile drivers, equipment operators, and support staff.

  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate project goals, safety protocols, and performance expectations.

  • Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce and promote a strong safety culture on the construction site.

  • Ensure that all pile driving activities adhere to industry safety standards and company policies.

  • Quality Control:

  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure that pile installations meet project specifications and engineering standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections and assessments to identify and address any quality issues promptly.

  • Equipment Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of pile driving equipment, ensuring that it is in optimal condition and meets safety standards.

  • Coordinate with equipment managers to schedule routine maintenance and repairs.

  • Cost Management:

  • Work closely with the project management team to monitor and control project costs related to pile-driving activities.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.

  • Subcontractor Coordination:

  • Manage relationships with subcontractors involved in pile-driving activities.

  • Review and negotiate subcontractor agreements, ensuring alignment with project goals and contractual obligations.

  • Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and clients.

  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to pile driving activities promptly.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, progress reports, and incident reports.

  • Provide regular updates to project management regarding the status of pile driving activities.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in pile-driving operations.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate innovative techniques when applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

  • Extensive experience in pile-driving operations, with a proven track record of successful project completion.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, construction codes, and quality standards.

  • Familiarity with construction project management software.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic construction environment.

Physical Demands

  • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.

  • Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift

  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.

  • Ability to lift, frequently, at least 50 pounds.

  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
