VectorCSP Mechanical Engineer, (H-65) in Elizabeth City, North Carolina

VectorCSP is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work in the Elizabeth City, NC area.

Job Summary: Supports SRR aircraft improvement programs and related sustainment that delivers functional, airworthy SRR assets to field operators.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Successful completion of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination is desired.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in the practical application of aviation structural analysis.
  • Shall have a minimum of six (6) months experience in USCG or DOD aeronautical engineering.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform engineering analysis/research and design, prototype model development, integration and testing to support SRR aircraft improvement programs and related sustainment.
  • Provide mechanical engineering recommendations for SRR aircraft modification and sustainment programs and participate in technical reviews, flight safety, testing/analysis, certification, and implementation of applicable efforts.
  • Ensure the COR is apprised of the requirements, regulations and statutes necessary to implement airworthiness standards, define and accomplish desired levels of design and certification, define and employ standard aeronautical industry practices, and comply with all USCG engineering standards required to deliver functional, airworthy SRR assets to field operators.
  • Operate, maintain proficiency, and service FARO Arm equipment and related software.
  • Review, edit, and update drawings for new products, participate in SRR market research, and develop product improvement and repair recommendations.
  • Conduct ground and flight real-time qualitative and quantitative aircraft data collection and analysis to include but not limited to: vibration, heat transfer, mechanical stress, and engine-airframe performance.
  • Design, develop, and employ flight test instrumentation methods to record, store and review relevant information, and evaluate/monitor/record aircraft video and data buses, vibration, temperature, strain, and other aircraft/system parameters.
  • Assist SRR Engineering with aircraft weight and balance development for new systems and components.
  • Participate in an advisory role in planning/progress meetings and technical reviews.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Shall have experience in drafting and reviewing structural and mechanical drawings.
  • Shall be proficient in the use of engineering software to include ProEngineer, SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, Microsoft Visio, Cam 2 Measure 10, MATLAB and FORTRAN. This proficiency shall include college level course work with Solidworks in modeling and design and Solidworks Simulation (FEA, Interference Detection, etc.).
  • Shall be able to create and manipulate parts using ProEngineer and Solidworks software suites; demonstrate the ability to transfer files between the two (2) programs; and demonstrate the ability to work with other manufacturing and engineering facilities/entities that utilize either program.
  • Experience in developing and updating USCG or DOD structural and mechanical technical drawings is desired.
  • Experience in researching and evaluating mechanical and electromechanical systems and products to include but not limited to: mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and material science is desired.
  • Experience with FARO Arm software and equipment and the ability to translate data into Solidworks, Microsoft Excel, and DesignWorks software programs is desired.
  • Experience in USCG aviation engineering or aviation program management is desired.
  • Experience on the H-65 airframe is desired.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting avionics, wiring, and electrical drawings, diagrams, and documentation is desired.
  • Experien e with H-65 technical documentation is desired.
  • Basic leadership and management skills and the ability to train/guide FARO Arm technicians is desired.
