Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity within Caterpillar to be the CFO of a Joint Venture (JV). Raptor is based in Edmonton Canada, with teams, operations, and assets across sites in the US, Canada, Peru and plans to further expand globally. The position has responsibility for all Commercial, Financial and Accounting functions, as well as the care and custody for all funds, securities, and assets of the company per the JV operating agreement. The position is accountable to the CEO of the JV with also a direct report to the RISST Division CFO, and dotted line to the Board of Directors.

The CFO is a key leader within the JV senior leadership team who collaborates directly with JV functional leaders who lead Product Management, Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality. A key role is translation of the CEO’s strategic goals for the business into a robust long range financial plan and detailed current fiscal year operating plans, aligned to Board approved financial targets. Provides robust commercial and financial oversight to the entire operation. Counsels the CEO and President on major business activities and investments while ensuring robust controls and safeguards of JV assets. Select, develop, and evaluate finance/accounting personnel to ensure efficient operation. Be a strong business coach to the team including providing direction on key initiatives and value-added activities.

What you will do:

This is a great “hands on” leadership role where you’ll experience all aspects of the business. We are looking for a candidate who can effectively communicate & collaborate across business functions and management levels.

  • Manage the total accounting, forecasting and budget processes to ensure timely monthly and quarterly close and reporting activities to the CEO, President, Board, and their agents

  • Drives efficient and effective business processes and internal controls that enables the business to move fast as well as fiscally responsible

  • Oversee the overall external Audit process, Treasury, and Insurance engagement for the business

  • Manages the external relationships with the banker, insurance brokers, audit and tax firms

  • Responsible for the complex financial modeling and metrics, to drive the business in the intended direction

  • Assist the JV with business analytics through the development of dashboards as well as specific financial, sales and operations reports

  • Active involvement, management, and reporting on people planning & tracking

  • Define annual targets for incentive comp and dividend payouts, provide quarterly updates with estimate for year end

  • Work with Quality teams to develop targets and analyze results

What you will have:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and 10 years equivalent experience

  • Finance and Accounting: Strong analytical skills with knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations

  • Business Acumen: Ability to influence and engage with a team across multiple geographic locations, nationally and internationally, and collaborate and partner across peers and leadership

  • Leadership: Strong people leadership and organizational capability building with excellent communication and executive presence

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to take an Enterprise point of view and lead with our Values in Action

Top Candidates will also have:

  • MBA, Certified Accountant, or Master's degree in a business-related field.

  • Familiarity with Canadian Accounting Standards Board and IFRS

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Edmonton, Canada
