Job Description Summary#TeamAAM is looking for a Lead Controls Engineer to join our team in Detroit, Michigan! This hands-on individual will support our Metal Forming Business Unit by leading the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Applications are broad and varied, requiring inclusion of technical and business context and solving of non-routine problems.

Job Description Development of controls designs and hardware for new and refurbished forging equipment, automation, and their integration. Apply and maintain standards that define the minimum controls requirements of Metal Forming equipment. Ensure the compliance with applicable national electrical safety standards for new, refurbished and existing Metal Forming equipment. Identify and implement advanced machine control, sensor, and robotic technologies. Project manage suppliers as they design and build Metal Forming equipment control systems and machine integration solutions. 30% travel to plant locations for equipment installation, startup, and debug. Support Metal Forming plants as needed with critical controls issues on existing systems. All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education Required Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field Working knowledge of safety requirements involving electrical systems. Working knowledge of ladder logic and HMI programming (Allen Bradley preferred). Working knowledge of robot programming and debug. Basic understanding of machine controls design, development, component selection, programming, testing, evaluating, implementation, and trouble shooting. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Preferred Bachelor's Degree in relevant field Basic understanding in hydraulics, pneumatics, lube and coolant design, and troubleshooting. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (2013 or newer) preferred.
